Actually, all LeMat revolvers had the shotgun barrel. It’s not really an attachment and more an integral part of the gun. Hm, I may spend too much time watching Forgotten Weapons on youtube....

I’ve read the book. It was a long time ago though! So I can’t say this gun is revealing its significance to the book for me, haha.

Nowadays if one wants a revolver shotgun one gets a Judge or Governor.

It’s highly significant, but that’s not really the point. The reader who recognizes the significance of the revolver might have enough depth of knowledge and experience to take a stab at another more esoteric question I am wondering about.

And it was not a great gun; prone to failure of the shotgun packing rod arm and with no top strap, to stretching of the frame. But it starred well in “Cold Mountain.”
